We've taken some time off from journals during the holidays due to time constraints, thank you for your patience and understanding. We have continued to keep busy and have lots of stories to share. In the meantime, I wanted to post a note about our current needs.
We took Tuesday 12/26/2017 off due to the frigid weather but ventured out on Friday 12/27/2017 to serve our brothers and sisters. Saying it was cold out there is an understatement. We have the luxury of planning and wearing layers, putting thought into each item we don to try and keep ourselves warm and safe. Our friends on the streets do not have that option. Last night it didn't really matter what we wore, we were simply very cold and would take turns sitting in a warm vehicle to be safe. I certainly know we're doing this voluntarily and I do not mean to sound that I'm complaining. We are committed to the people we serve and are out there as much as possible.
I look at the weather forecast and hope and pray that all will be safe. The temperatures are expected to remain in the subzero range for another few days and then in the single digits for a few days. To help our friends, we are in need of the following:
Handwarmers -- we give out 2-3 pair per person while in these temps
Long underwear -- we really need bottoms, all sizes
Warm coats with working zippers
Boots -- good shape, working zippers if applicable
Thank you. Stay safe, stay warm. Please share!
